Human nature will do it every time no matter what the system or structures!

I guess its the justification for those actions and abuses by scripture and doctrines, and hiding behind them.
Its the level of hypocrisy that does it for me. The church is the one organisation that should be, if not free from it all, at least open to recognising and actively addressing it. The atheist meetings had a set format to them as much as a church has a set liturgy. They had various factions and there was a lot of infighting and stubborn intransigence. The male leaders underpaid the female staff, the older people resented changes by the young, and one group was suing another group over an outreach business/bookstore that had failed due to the inability to agree on how to run it. I share this that you might recognize that ending "the church" won't end the problems you run into; it's a human thing. I'm still "friends" with a few people from my old town/old church on FB and I just feel sorry for them. Yes they are doing some good in the world, yes they are lovely people, yes I'm amazed they haven't unfriended me and yes I think I know why. As they are thinking their life can be a witness to me of how great God is and how wonderful He's made their lives I am thinking the exact same thing. Yet I very probably look backslidden to them... and nothing could be further from the truth.
The fact is that when we drain that bathtub of all its dirty, stinking water we find that the baby is dead. And we then know that it's time to bury it and just walk away never to look back. A child doesn't try to figure out the answer to world hunger (although if you have the answer to this, don't throw that away). A child simply lives and loves and chases butterflies and falls and gets up again and runs in circles and laughs at feeling dizzy. To live in the freedom of a child. Wow. That's some kind of gift! Every writer was addressing a Jewish audience with the exception of the apostle Paul - who was often addressing a mixed audience. Jesus came to fulfill God's part of the Old Covenant. He also came to usher in the New Covenant, but the Bible only know about the New Covenant because of the book of Hebrews. Once again a book addressed to Jews. Perhaps the Father's intention was to reveal it to us through the Holy Spirit - which was not available to Jews for most of the Old Covenant.Uncommon Sensehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17740812699999554650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8161899938003377748.post-57872944644127919182013-11-11T17:26:44.856+13:002013-11-11T17:26:44.856+13:00Lovely comment thanks Alley.

My approach is a humanitarian one I suppose. When I was young I searched and attended many different churches and spiritual centers looking for something that aligned with how I felt. All that I encountered were limiting - they all had regulations and rules which disallowed a full expression of all the possibilities I believed in. So at the young age of 16 I made the decision to follow my heart and live how I thought I should encouraging all people to be the best they could for themselves and to work at being the best I could be. Not easy and sometimes I have forgotten to complete my practices of gratitude and acceptance. However I have been able to look at most situations compassionately and think about what is the best outcome for each individual involved and how can I help that happen. This is my spiritual path to be able to look at a whole situation and see the part we each play and to make the most of that. I am not sure how many people express their beliefs like I do as I have never sought to meet people with my belief set. I felt compelled to comment because I sense your struggle and it need not be so hard. Accepting my love of self and others helped me. Perhaps you can relate to this.Alleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15503235420270005305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8161899938003377748.post-74713109415685528922013-10-07T23:17:52.830+13:002013-10-07T23:17:52.830+13:00God has your back, my brother. His method is more waiting on God to hear about what God might want to do, and then proceeding from there.

It's hard to ignore the incredible things that seem to be going on in Redding, California. But I believe that they did not seek the gifts, but the 'giver'; and that the miracles have flowed out of that correct mindset.

I'm really appreciating hearing different viewpoints at the moment. I think we can learn things from all the denominations and non-denominations and Christians-hiding-under-rocks.

We have just had someone pass on at our previous church, and she was also much prayed for, and hoped for. In the end, God is glorified and we have shown our love and support to those left behind.

In terms of your journey, I cannot pretend to understand, but I am keen to hear about it; and can only reflect fondly upon the times that I knew you both (min and yourself) and the continuing impact that your ministry and teaching (you taught me piano, minn guitar) have had on my life.

Be blessed to know that you are fondly thought of.whydoesitburn!!https://www.blogger.com/profile/11126854938015108267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8161899938003377748.post-76750884488041394412013-08-15T19:55:38.303+12:002013-08-15T19:55:38.303+12:00I love this Jim.
